Description
Ready-to-Wear
The patterns of Binakol cloths are ancient, and are dizzying on purpose. Traditionally, the Ilokanos and the Itneg communities from Northern Luzon made blankets in this design. Mathematically precise, the counting is done in the weavers' minds without a manual or guide. The blankets in the dizzying designs, are intentionally done to confuse and distract the evil spirits, thus protecting the sleeping souls.
The Binakol weave we use here is sourced directly from the skilled weavers of Ifugao Nation, and has been woven in a lighter shirt weight.
Handloomed heritage and ancestor protection is embodied in this cool casual waist cropped top. Wear it open, closed, with shorts, or with anything really. Wear your culture, every day.
Each Waist Cropped Shirt (Binakol) is handcrafted by the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines.
