Unisex Biggie Barong: Pamanang Paniniwala (Natural)

Unisex Biggie Barong: Pamanang Paniniwala (Natural)

Ready-to-Wear

Stand out with this long-sleeved Biggie Barong, made of 100% silk and with an epic embroidery design in gallant gray. This barong is part of a series that is conceptualized and illustrated by our in-house artist, Alagadngsining

Pamamang Paniniwala literally translates to inherited belief. The theme of this design series is centred on the anting-anting or agimat. A menagerie of imageries and symbols of the diverse traditions and cultures influenced by indigenous Philippine Kulturang Pagdidiwata (culture of ritual), Catholicism (Latin), and symbols of Animism, Paganism, Orthodox Christianity, and Judaism--a version of Philippine folk magic. Read more about the meaning of each of the symbols, and the significance of this uniquely Filipino tradition here.

Each barong has hand-manipulated machine embroidery on the front and back, and is handcrafted by Master Lita and the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines.

We have very limited stock, so do not hesitate!

Material and Care Instructions:

- 100% silk organza, coconut wood buttons
- Spot or fully hand wash with mild soap, do not wring. Dry flat not in direct sun. Dry clean only when absolutely necessary, to avoid drying out the silk (this causes the fabric to break and tear). Steaming will cause crinkles, follow with iron on low to medium heat (silk setting).
