Vanda javierae is a species of flowering plant in the orchid family, Orchidaceae, which is endemic to the Philippines in Luzon and Calayan Island. It is known commonly as Mrs. Javier's Vanda, with flowers about 2.5" wide and mostly white. This species is an epiphyte, growing in island forest habitat, at elevations around 4000 feet. With the condition of unprotected forests in Luzon, subjected to disturbance and degradation, the population of this species is dwindling. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species, the Vanda javierae is classified as an endangered species.
Each Mantilla measures 82" in length, and 75" at it's widest point of the oval shape.
This Mantilla will be handcrafted by Master Lita and the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines.
