Unisex Biggie Barong (Pamanang Paniniwala)
$330.00
Ready-to-Wear
This full length sleeve Biggie Barong, 100% silk, hand-dyed in an amethyst colour has a new epic embroidery design (which will be part of a series) conceptualized and illustrated by our in-house artist, Alagadngsining.
Pamamang Paniniwala literally translates to inherited belief. The theme of this design series is centred the anting-anting or agimat. A menagerie of imageries and symbols of the diverse traditions and cultures influenced by indigenous Philippine Kulturang Pagdidiwata (culture of ritual), Catholicism (Latin), and symbols of Animism, Paganism, Orthodox Christianity, and Judaism--essentially a version of Philippine voodoo. Read more about the meaning of each of the symbols, and the significance of this uniquely Filipino tradition here.
This barong is hand-dyed, and has hand manipulated machine embroidered on the front and back. Each barong is handcrafted by Master Lita and the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines.
