This bomber-inspired jacket is made with 100% cotton, handloomed textile ethically sourced from a 100-year-old weaving enclave in Baguio in the northern region of the Philippines. The weave design originates from Paracelis Mountain Province, the helix-like structure refers to the lightning god, who is also known to be the messenger god. This symbol is used to signal a mortal’s efforts to reach their superior gods, as one would need the help of the messenger god to talk to the higher gods.
The top part of the jacket is translucent hand-painted jusi (polyester + silk blend) fabric, traditionally used for barongs. This type of jusi is locally called piña jusi; the dry brush painting technique mimics the heavy weft thread of piña textile.
