New Chinoy Barong

New Chinoy Barong

Ready-to-Wear

The Chinoy (‘chee-noy’), slang in Tagalog for Filipino people of Chinese descent. The New Chinoy Barong has a fully open button up front and a micro Mandarin collar. Slim cut and easy to wear, this modern classic is always flattering. This Barong also has a relaxed cuff-less sleeve.

This piece features Alagadngsining’s Filipino Tropico I design.

The Philippines is both a hotspot and a mega-diversity area, making it a priority for conservation. The country’s forests are habitat for more than 6,000 plant species and numerous bird and animal species, including the critically endangered ones

Exceptionally lush and full of life, Filipino Tropico is a series of embroidery designs conceptualized and illustrated by Alagadngsining, VINTA's in-house surface designer and artist. Read more about each species featured in these embroidery designs here

Material and Care Instructions:

The New Chinoy Barong is made of silk organza (100% silk) with mother of pearl buttons. Each barong is handcrafted by Master Lita and the VINTA Gallery team in our atelier in the Philippines. Hand-manipulated machine embroidery is also done in our atelier.

- Care Instructions: Spot or fully hand wash with mild soap, do not wring. Dry flat not in direct sun. Dry clean only when absolutely necessary, to avoid drying out the silk (this causes the fabric to break and tear). Steaming will cause crinkles, follow with iron on low to medium heat (silk setting).
